Standing up for animals shouldn't have cost Regan her life, but it did.

Animal Rights Advocate, Regan Russell was run over by a slaughterhouse truck and died.  This never should have happened.  The media called it a "transport truck," but that is a euphemism. It is a "slaughterhouse truck."  The truck was one of the millions of massive sixteen wheelers that haul pigs to their deaths at the Slaughterhouses each and every night around the world.

I personally attended a Los Angeles Pig Save, and I can tell you first-hand that just being in the vicinity of a slaughterhouse is no easy task.  The traumatizing smell, as you approach the dimly lit area, hits you like a ton of bricks.  Even with a mask on, you begin to feel the darkness that resides at these slaughterhouses.  This is a hidden billion-dollar business that operates in the night.  They do this all behind closed doors and in remote areas, so the public can remain dissociated to the brutality and outright murders of animals each and every night.  In fact, the billion-dollar meat industry just got Bill #156 passed, making it illegal to show you the brutality and horror realities of slaughterhouses.  This bill blocks animal activists from filming the mind-boggling abuses and terrifying experiences these animals go through prior to their tragic deaths, because if you were to see what it's really like for animals, these meat businesses may lose your business and their massive profits when people eat animals.

Regan believed in animal rights and was simply there at the Ontario Pig Save to bear witness to the impending and looming slaughter of the pigs.  Each night, as the truck drivers pull up in their big-rig trucks, they have to stop just in front of the slaughterhouse and wait for the gates to open and be allowed to drive into the slaughterhouse to unload the pigs.  The trucks stop with their sacrificial animals inside and wait for the gates to open and then drive into the slaughterhouse facilities.

During this "wait time," animal rights activists approach the massive trucks and give water to the pigs and provide kindness of human touch (one the pigs will never feel again) for appx 1-3 mins prior to being hauled in and slaughtered.  There is fear written all over the animals' faces, and they are parched for water beyond belief.  The pigs' eyes say it all.  They are scared to death, and I believe if you were to see this for yourself, you too would stop eating animals.

Once the trucks are approved to enter the slaughterhouse, all the activists yell out to let everyone know the trucks are about to move.  The kind human souls who bear witness to the pig's fate have to then step away from the trucks.  However, on this fateful night, Regan was not able to step away and the sixteen wheeler truck ran her over- and killed her.  Why?  This happens every night and truck drivers are very familiar with this procedure.  Some truck drivers feel bad for what they are doing and are very conscientious of the people around the truck.  Then there are other truck drivers who are annoyed and don't care about human lives in front of them, and on the sides of the trucks.

There is an ongoing investigation and we will learn the exact details, but what is known for sure is she died believing that people should choose "cruelty-free" options and not eat animals.  She believed no pig should die.  She sacrificed her life believing that fact.  She was a friend to people and animals.

May you take this opportunity to consider not eating pigs for your health, for the lives of pigs, and to honor our fellow human and animal rights friend.  If you would like to bear witness and attend a pig save, you can go to www.google.com and search for "pig save" to find one in your local area.

This never should have happened to Regan Russell, but you have the power to change it.

You can help by switching from animal meat to plant-based meat so there are no more pigs on trucks heading to their deaths, and people no longer have to bear witness and risk their lives.

You can check out some great cruelty-free options in lieu of eating pigs
such as Lightlife, Tofurky, Sweat Earth Bacon, Beyond Meat Pork and Sausages

*RIP Regan Russell.  May your light inspire people to go "cruelty-free."
